Dominica - The nature isle of the world

Wesley is one of the larger villages in the Commonwealth of Dominica. It is situated on the North East side of the island looking out onto the Atlantic Ocean. When travelling to Wesley from Melville Hall Airport, one only needs to turn left when leaving the airport driveway and follow the road for a few minutes until reaching Wesley.

There are no signs posted but one will know the village once all the houses are seen. Just before reaching Wesley, there will be a gas station on the hill and a little roadside cafe on the opposite side. Carrying on, there will be a bend in the road with houses high up on the hill on the left and houses below on the right.

On the left side of the road, one will find benches like bus stop benches but they are not for bus passengers but rather locals who stop to shoot the breeze. There is a little area up ahead by the police station where one sits to wait for the bus. Remember, though, that the bus is a mini van with no signs about where it is going. Most likely, it will eventually end up in Roseau, the capital of Dominica some miles away.

Wesley, Dominica has a credit union, several churches and many little shops for the locals to buy things they need in an emergency or just to drink a cool refreshment. Many of the older men sit and play dominoes at the shops. If you stand on the high part of the ground, you will see the Atlantic Ocean to the right of you on the horizon.

Wesley is typically not an area where tourists would travel. Not that there is anything wrong with Wesley, it is not a tourist attraction as there is nothing special that would bring a tourist other than passing through the village.
